Following scenario:

• Master-Master setup
• a notification interval is running
• notifications are sent from master-1
• master-1 fails for some reason or process gets stopped
• master-2 takes correctly over and continuous the notification interval
• fail1: the first notification sent from master-2, after the take over, is sent twice
• the notification interval then runs correctly on master-2
• if master-1 comes up again, it takes over the notifications
• fail2: at this moment, notifications are sent multiple times (2-3) from each master
• after the multiple notification fail, notifications continue correctly on master1

It's hard to describe, I suggest we look at this together
