I would like to suggest the addition of a new 'Export to email/copy' button similar to the export to csv / json buttons. If you were to select multiple hosts/services, the page that would be generated would be a page that would be easy to copy / paste into an email. I have noticed that when our network operations group try and do copy from the host/service detail screen the output isn't so great when copied into outlook, I would suggest a cleaner static screen (that wouldn't have a page refresh on it) that could be copied.

Thoughts?

Hi,

sounds like a cool idea.

Would be nice if you could create some sort of template to demonstrate how it should look like.

Thx Ricardo

Ricardo, I think just a similar list to what is already displayed, but with all of the HTML stripped out of it. Newlines rather than \br etc.

Host Service Status Last Check Duration Attempt Status Information
foo.com HTTP WARNING 01-26-2013 12:23:39 8d 22h 37m 41s 3/3 HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden - 1412 bytes in 0.003 second response time

The trouble with clients like outlook is the recognize the html tags in the clipboard and then try to display the formatting with inconsistent (and sometimes hilarious) results.

I'm not sure about the pre-selection part of this request though. Perhaps that should be left to the user to decide what to copy/paste from the output.

i would leave such formatting to users applications. there's already 2 additional api methods added to pure html (json, csv) which will be easily parsable as well as presentable (someone said perl?) to external applications then. there's even the possibility to hack the csv delimiter to a space or tab rather than the expected semi-colon.

furthermore, modern email clients allow you to copy paste plain text only (at least my thunderbird does), which makes the moaning about html interpretation by mail clients rather ridicolous.

imho this issue should be closed or rejected in that regard.

Good points michi

I'm neutral either way. I was just giving Ricardo the feedback he asked for.
